The Good
Week 4 and I am still alive. The reason why I say still alive is because these two weeks were quite a challenge, but this is the good section. The good about this week is that I now understand what was being introduced in terms of negations, conjunctions dis-junctions etc. At first, during the lectures I was having trouble understanding because of the speed it was being taught at, but after I sat down and read the notes I understood most of the concepts. I felt that the TA was very good at explaining the exercise questions and answering it in detail. When it came to Assignment one with help from my partner I was able to understand the questions being asked. I did not completely understand question 1d,e, 3d,e which turned out to be the question answered wrong or not clearly on the assignment, but other than that I understood the rest. What I liked was that Venn diagrams and charts were used as visual aids, which helped in the learning process.
The Bad
These two weeks were not the best to me; during the lectures I did not understand 100 percent, I did not do to well on the two quizzes, and I needed a lot of assistance from my partner to understand A1. I really don't know what happened during week 3 it was just a bad week for me. The worst thing was that the information taught in week 3 was needed in week 4, causing setbacks. I was mainly having trouble understanding mixed quantifiers and negations fully, translating words into symbols.
Conclusion
To conclude, I feel that I need to ask more questions during my tutorial and visit the Help Centre if I have any questions. I was happy that I was able to answer questions from A1. What I need to do to improve my understanding is to get the answers of the questions I did not understand and try and figure out how to get it. Also read up on the course notes and remember to not be afraid to ask questions.
Oh well, everybody has some bad weeks. And yes, do ask questions!
